March 2009 - Norwich Cathedral steel flitch plate installation We were asked by Norwich Cathedral to help lift a 5 metre long, steel flitch plate, 6.75 metres off the ground and slide it into a small hole in the side of one of their properties. It was a challenging lift, requiring the crane operator to be situated at the top of the scaffolding tower to accurately guide the steel home. Another certified crane operator remained at floor level.
A full site survey had been carried out prior to the lift and method statements and risk assessments prepared in advance.
